Elective Speakers
We have a great variety of elective speakers at QB State Youth Camp 2020. We will also have podcasts and resources available after the event!

Dr Dave Benson
Topic: “What’s Greta Thunberg Got to Do with the Gospel? Thinking Christianly about Global Weirding”
Dr. Dave Benson is a former high school teacher and youth worker/pastor, current Professor in Practical Theology, and head of Traverse (traverse.org.au)–the Malyon Theological College Centre for Bridging Church and Culture.
As a dilettante ‘climate justice’ activist and leader of a house church centred in the great outdoors and experimenting with creation care (christspieces.org), Dave will help you listen to the groans of the planet, imagine a more faithful way of being, and change our everyday practices for the flourishing of the world.

Kimberly Smith
Topic: Gen Z: The art of Relationships
Kimberly Smith is a pastor, speaker and the author of the book “What We Cannot Be Alone | Understanding Singleness in God’s Family”.
Ministry opportunities see her travelling across the Australia and overseas. Kimberly believes there is always more to learn, more to understand, more to give, and a fuller life to live. She speaks regularly around the topics of Leadership, Sexuality, Relationship & Identity, and Singleness.

Daniel Paterson
Topic: Questioning God: What do I do with doubts?”
Dan is a speaker for RZIM based in Australia. An ordained pastor, Dan speaks regularly to audiences on how the gospel connects to life’s biggest questions and on the popular objections to the Christian faith, particularly on the question of suffering

Chris Knott
Topic: “What is the Bible and what do I do with it?”
You’re probably wondering what I am doing here? I’m not a pastor or a scholar (yet), but just a regular guy.
When not keeping the government’s secrets in my office job, I can be found watching sports, helping my wife keep her plants alive and procrastinating on my Master of Divinity study (yes, that’s the real title ladies and gentlemen).
I hope my elective lays the groundwork for you to be curious (and not terrified) about what is in the Bible. I’m not going to preach to you or lecture you, but I hope that together, we can work out some of the answers to why and how this book works and why people keep telling you to read it.
By the way, if you’re interested in coming to this elective and have any questions you’d like to ask about the Bible, go to https://app.sli.do/event/y8cw8ebp and submit them for us to discuss (don’t worry, you can be anonymous!).

Pamela Kichoncho
Topic: Awareness of subtle racism and isolation in multicultural society
Pamela is a stay at home mum with a passion for God, entrepreneurship and social initiatives that further the Gospel of Christ and his universal love for us all. She is fascinated by the diversity of cultures, peoples and places and what makes us all Ubuntu(humanity).
This elective will highlight some challenges and remedy how to seamlessly integrate and thrive within racially diverse communities and share the gospel while at it.

Andy Gore and Andrea Lea
Topic: 1 Simple Step to Engage Friends from a Different Faith.
Andy and Andrea work in multicultural schools and see both the opportunities and challenges that we face as a modern, richly diverse society.
Their session will share their own personal experiences, highlight practical ways we can engage better with people of different cultures and faiths, and stir us to go deeper and future in loving our neighbours, as Jesus called us to.

Dr Adam Robinson
Topic: Enemies behind the Veil: A Study of the Four Great Enemies in the Book of Revelation.
This elective focuses on the four great enemies with whom Christians must contend: the dragon, the two beasts, and the prostitute.
This elective will identify the four enemies, explain how they attack Christians, and explain how we overcome them according to the book of Revelation.
Adam Robinson is the husband of Sarah and father of Adam II (age 2) and Lily (age 7 months). He recently returned to Australia after completing his PhD in New Testament at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in the United States. His research centres around the book of Revelation.

Rev. Colin Stoodley
Topic: Prophecy -hearing from and speaking for the Lord
This elective is a starting point on an important journey. There will be a couple of valuable lessons, plenty of time to practise hearing and some time to ask questions too. Best of all, it will help you to partner with Jesus more effectively.
Colin Stoodley has been in ministry for almost 42 years. It was very early on that he sensed that God spoke to Him and wanted him to speak for God every day. Over that time, there’s been a lot of bumps and mistakes, but there has also been many many wonderful moments where people’s lives have been transformed by sensing what God was saying to them, and by accepting the invitation God was making to them to partner with Him to make the world a better place.
